I was looking for the lightest possible "tripod" for my iPhone to use backpacking. Compactness was also on the wish list. This selfie stick/monopod/tripod by Yunteng fits the bill. It appears to be all aluminum construction with a good fit and finish.6.6oz (187g) on my scale8.5 inches (21.6cm) completely folded.44inches (111.8cm) fully extended.8 inches (20.3cm) span from one extended leg of the tripod to the next.The shaft is telescopic and is held extended by friction. It can barely hold 31oz (879g) before collapse. But plenty strong for my 8 oz phone.The tripod legs open and return freely with light friction. They do not click into place. This allows you to scoot a leg a little closer to compensate for uneven ground. But this device works best if on flat ground. There are some mods that might help. See below.There is a male standard 1/4" camera thread as the attachment point for the phone holder. You could use your own or the spring loaded one that comes with the unit. In addition the head of the stick has a hinge that allows for 180 degrees of rotation and a screw for tightening the position as desired. It lacks a ball joint which is problematic if there is much of an angle in the set up. However if there is much of an angle the whole thing will fall over. Also, likely any wind will be a problem.One easy modification is to carry a shepard's hook tent stake. After setup, push the stake in next to a tripod leg and let the hook hold the leg down. Another option is to drape a coat or shirt around the tripod to hold it down.There is a bluetooth remote with a rechargeable battery. The remote has an on/off switch. The instructions say one charge is good for 20-25 hours. It paired easily with my iPhone 12 Pro Max. The remote will only trigger a photo or start and stop video recording on my phone. The remote snaps pretty firmly on to any leg of the tripod for transport and use as a selfie stick.It will be interesting to see how it works out in the field, but given its weight and collapsed size, I am pleased upon first inspection.
